Headband Storage

I love headbands.

In fact, I have quite a collection.  Some I just love to look at and others I love to wear.  Either way I had to find a solution to my mess.  Check out how I organized my headbands.

I used two empty oat canisters.

First off, I super glued them together.  I glued the bottoms together so that I can use the open ends of the empty canisters for more storage.  Then I added my "favorite" duct tape to secure the glue. 

With some paper and ribbons I covered my canisters. 

I also decorated the top.

It doesn't look the best but it works! 

Add headbands!

I love that I can take off the lid to hide more headbands.  

Much better!

More Storage Please

Play Room

Welcome to our play room!!!

This has been quite a project and we are finally done and ready to play.

Side note:  My girls always end up together at night so we moved them into the same room and now use M's room as a play room.  The tree on the wall matched her bedding {it was painted freehand by me and my friend, Jen C}.

I didn't want to paint over it so we left it.

They now play in there for hours and LOVE IT!  I do, too!

 I spray painted this piece of metal {found at Home Depot} and hung it on the wall to hang the kids' art work!  I purposely hung it high enough

that my girls couldn't reach it so that their art wouldn't get ruined.

My dad made these STRONG magnets.  Super neat.

I found this frame at a thrift store, removed the glass

and lovely picture, and spray painted it white.

I LOVE SPRAY PAINT!

I found this darling owl at the Quilted Bear {Craft Boutique}

and hung him with my favorite things.

I wanted a little more pink so I took embroidery floss and pink circle stickers and added some decoration to the ceiling.  I used two dots for

every dot and sandwiched the floss in the middle of them. 

 I love how it turned out.

I used clear push pins, wrapped the floss around them, and

pushed them into the area where the wall and ceiling meet.

*So far it has held up great. 

 



The desk was a gift.  The girls use it all the time for playing and coloring.

Our beanbag is from Target.

It makes a great spot to read!

Road Trip

Taking two young children on a long road trip can be hard without

anything for them to do.  So, I had the girls pick out several

things that they wanted to do along the way and put them in their box.

I found this idea at iammommahearmeroar.blogspot.com (I love her).  This box (which we already had) fit perfectly between the girl's car seats.  This allowed them to pick something out and then put it away when they were done.   These are the items in the box:  homework, crayons (which, by the way, have a tendency to melt in a hot car), coloring books, an Etch-a-Sketch, a Game Boy with games, DVD's and players, and small crafts.  We had two rules: 1) when you are done with whatever you are playing with put it back, and, 2) you can only do whatever is in the box while in the car!!!   We are definitely doing this again. 

They loved it and so did we.

Ribbon Organization

Do you find that you have a lot of ribbon?

Well, I had a pile like this until now!

I used plastic embroidery floss bags (these can be found anywhere embroidery floss is sold) and an old paper towel holder to organize my ribbon. 

The bags come with 2 holes in them.  I used loose-leaf rings to fasten the bags together.  I needed to repeat this step because I had a lot of ribbon.

Now, slip the rings over the paper towel holder and voilà!

I find myself feeling like I'm shopping for ribbon with the way
I flip throught the bags!

Got Nails?

While shopping at Ikea I found this cute tray.

It is small, sturdy, and easy to carry.  I didn't know what I was going to do with it

but I thought I could find something to put in it!

Being a mom of 2 little girls we like to paint our nails a lot!!!

We have quite a lot of suff/colors to choose from.  

The tray is perfect for our nail stuff. 

Here are my nail must-haves!

 

I don't know what this is called but you can get it at any beauty supply store for under $1.  It was fun to paint the plastic nails so that my girls can pick out the color of nail polish they want without them actually touching the polish!  When you need to repaint the plastic nail all you do is remove it with nail polish remover then paint it again.  So fun!

Sally Hanson Kwik Off nail polish remover.  It is seriously the best invention ever. 

It is a big sponge filled with polish remover. 

All you do is put your hand in the container and move it around. 

It takes the polish right off!

And, of course, you need nail clippers, polish, files, a little nail art, and you are set.

Measuring Spoon Organization

Do you have a drawer full of kitchen utensils and can never find all of your measuring spoons?  Well I did until now!  I was standing in the checkout line at the local "do-it-yourself" store waiting to check out when the kitchen organization book called my name.  I quickly looked through it and found a way to organize my measuring spoons.  I came home and made my own (with my dad's help).  In the magazine it said to use a small piece of scrap wood but all I had was a "put-it-together-yourself" picture frame I have no idea why I had it so I thought, "what the heck?  That will work."  I put the hooks in then I used mounting tape to tape it to the inside of my cabinet door.  I love having them in an easy-to-get to spot but, I have to warn you, it will scare you every time you open up the door!  The spoons clank when the cabinet door is opened!!!

Did you notice...one of my hooks is not like the others?  It fell off.  I couldn't find it, so I just used what had.  

Mini Me!

A lot of organization has been taking place around our home.  Just a few more spaces and it will be done.  I have tried to include the girls in this madness and it looks like it payed off.  E asked me to come and see what she had done.  This is what I found... she had organized her jammie/underwear/sock drawer. 

She was so proud, and so am I!

Quick Finds!

While I was out and about this week I found some good finds that I would like to share.

1: Containers for my organization - $1 each (Dollar Tree in Riverdale, UT). 

They are perfect and the price is right!  They have two sizes.  I bought several in both sizes.

Before: I used empty chocolate covered raisin containers (Costco).  I was going to remove or cover the labels but never did.  For $1 I decided to throw them away and use...

these. 

*I am really embarrassed with how many chocolate covered raisin containers we have.  Wow, they are a great find (but watch out, as you can tell, they're addicting).

2: Tree tent - $7.48 (Target in Riverdale, UT)

Target had a lot of pop-up tents for $5-$13,  different shapes, Disney themed, and other characters. 

So cute!

You will have to wait and see where I put this!

3: 3 Sport Bras - $9.98 (Sam's Club in Riverdale, UT)

These are super comfy. 3 sports bras for under $10.  You can't beat that.

Craft Closet

I guess that this is my year to get organized.

Are you sick of all the posts on organization yet?

I am a little embarrased to show this picture.  It is pretty bad.  This is my closet for crafts.  I have really let it go and it is hard to find anything.  Brace yourself...

I have found that it is great when you can hang some things on the wall! 

This is an old cassette tape holder that I used for my stamp pads.

All done.  Everything is right where I want it.

*So far I have gotten rid of 11 garbage bags of junk {yes, you read right, 11!}.  I don't know where it came from or where I stored it.  It feels so good to get rid of so much.
