Tender Merceys

This weekend was the semi annual General Conference for the
I tried to prepare myself and my family with things to do while listening. I am not the type to sit in front of the TV for 8 hours (I have been known to fall asleep). I like to listen while doing other things.  I don't expect my girls to listen to every speaker but I want them to feel the Spirit and at least be reverent.  A simple task, right?  Well my 2 year old loves to talk like it's her job and often screams when upset.  At one point I had had it.  I broke into tears and pleaded for them to just go play upstairs.  Ok, let me just say that looking back I think my girls probably thought I was crazy because I was in tears and just wanted them to be quiet.  I know it sounds nuts but I really try hard to get what I need to learn from our church leaders.  As conference came to an end, my E was quietly playing with her Barbies and M was taking a nap (hallelujah) and President Monson was waving to the camera.  I looked over and E was waving back to the TV and said, "Mom he's waving to me!"
My heart was overwhelmed that she felt that he was waving to her.  I turned to mush because she WAS listening, and noticed the Prophet waving to HER!  To her, it meant something.  Despite all the craziness that day, she was able to feel something and I realized that it truly is the simple things that matter most.

She would eat them everyday for every meal if we would let her.
I am always looking for new waffle recipes to try to change things up.  I just found the best waffles made from scratch over at campchef.com/blog.  I made mine at home rahter than out camping but they would be great on an outing!  Try my buttermilk syrup they are perfect together!!!

How To Remove A Grease Spot

This weekend The Mr and I were able to participate in a 24 hour cycling relay.  We had a blast.  As we were waiting for one of our riders to come in I brushed up against a bike and got a chain mark on the back of my favorite pants.
I was pretty bummed until I found out that Dawn dish soap not only
"takes grease out of your way", but it takes grease out of clothes!
I wish I had some pics but didn't think about taking one before I washed it!
Just put a little soap on the grease spot and work it in, wash and, amazingly, it comes right out!  I am buying another bottle for my laundry closet.
Thanks, Trudy for this tip!!!

Pumpkin Cookie Recipe

Fall is my favorite time of year!  I love the chill in the air, the delish fall food, and football season.  I just hate the thought of snow in a few months.  Well, I found an easy and healthy pumpkin cookie recipe to go right along with the season.
I think it is a Weight Watchers one!
Mix a spice cake mix (just the dry ingredients) with a small can of pumpkin.  Add a handful or two of chocolate chips (I prefer white chocolate chips) and you are done.  Yep, just 3 ingredients.  Spoon them out on a cookie sheet and cook at 350 for 10-15 min.  I make mine a little bigger so I have to cook theme longer.  They are so moist.  It's hard to just eat one!  I have also made muffins from the same ingredients.  They are great for breakfast.

Lazy Days

Oh how I wish we would have found our trailer a few months ago!
(haha), and are loving it.
I found the greatest hammock...it is called
It comes in two sizes, single (for one person) or double (for 2 or more - up to 350 lbs)
I ordered the double and LOVE IT.  I find myself spending a little too much time in it!
Hey isn't that what camping is all about?
It is so easy to put up (about 3 min total time) and a few more to put it away.
It fits in a small bag so it takes a little more time to shove it in the bag.
After our last outing I found out that the hammock can be washed.  It looks brand new.
