A 22 Month And A Pen

You know when the kids are quiet something bad is happening?  Well this is what I found when my 22 month old was quiet...pen all over my (technically hers, cause it is in her room) cream chair.  I was sick.  I ran downstairs to google "how to get pen off a fabric chair".  Hairspray was what everyone mentioned.  I applied the hairspray, scrubbed, and nothing happened.  Then the Mr. tried a
Huggies baby wipe. Ta da!  It came right out.  Huggies baby wipes are amazing.  They also take stains out of clothing without bleaching it.
I buy them by the case load!
Before, with hairspray on it (dark spots)

20 min. Market Skirt

One of my favorite things to do for each holiday is make my girls a skirt. I let my E pick out her own fabric then I coordinate or match fabric for M's.
I like to do something different on each skirt so they are never the same.
I found these great skirt tutorials lazy days skirt pattern & grosgrainfabulous.blogspot.com.
*I adapted this tutorial for my girls using only about a 1/4 of a yard.

This was E's skirt for Christmas. M wouldn't stand still for the pic!
  • E's skirt has tulle added at the hem of her skirt (just don't dry it, it will melt).
  • M's has green ric rac added to the hem of hers.
Can't wait to show you their Valentine's Day skirts!

Can't Get Enough

I am on a peppermint kick!  I have got to get one more of these before I start my healthy new years diet.  They are delish.  If you haven't tried one, you might not want to, because they are a limited time only.  So sad - one of these would be so great on a hot summers day.

Leggins/Arm Warmers

We love leggins/arm warmers!  These are so simple to make.
Take an adult size pair of long socks...
Cut off the foot part at the heel...
like this...
*use the footie for dusting*
Sew around the raw edge with the zig zag stitch while pulling the sock a little.  This way you can have a little give in the sock and a wave to the edge.
So cute..
ps- Sorry that the pictures aren't of the same sock, I made a few!

Make It Your Own

I found an awesome place in West Valley, Ut (3505 West 3500 South
(801) 968-1872Downeast Outlet. They have all sorts of name brand overstock.  I found two great deals and made them my own.  The first on is a Pottery Barn Christmas stocking holder with a name on it.  Well for $1 I can do something with it.  I modgepodged paper to the front where the name was and sanded the edges.  It sits next to my sewing machine and it holds a plastic sack for my garbage.  I also take it with me to scrapbook!
The next one is an organizor with a name on it.  Sorry no before pics.  I did the same thing, modged podged over the name.  It, too, sits next to my sewing machine.  Perfect to keep me organized.

*helpful hint: when going to Downeast Outlet keep an open mind.  A lot of items are monogramed, but with patience and a sharp thread unpicker you can make it your own.  Happy shopping.

Small Spaces

Have you ever wanted more?  Of course.  We all do, right?  I hope to give you some new ideas to make what you have better.  About 4 years ago we decided to downsize our home.  We had a lot of people tell us that we were not going to be happy living in a smaller house.  Well, we proved them wrong.
We LOVE where we live!
Downsizing has forced me to get creative and use every space available.
I want to show you some ways that you can
take advantage of the spaces you have available.
